An alarm is installed in your home via your telephone line, and you will be given a button to press if you need assistance. The button may be on a pendant that you can wear, so it is always on you. Call centre staff are on duty 24 hours a day and can call a member of your family or the emergency services. The service is likely to be organised by your local council, and you may have to pay towards it.
